The WSET Level 1 Award in Wine is the perfect starting point for someone embarking on their wine journey.
Whether pursuing a personal interest or using this as a first step into a career in wine, this course will give you the knowledge and confidence and start to demystify the complex world of wine.
For those new to wine study, this qualification provides a hands-on introduction to the world of wine. You’ll explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell, and taste, while also gaining the basic skills to describe wines accurately, and make food and wine pairings. 
How long is the Level One course?
It is a 1 day course with 6 hours of teaching
Is there an exam?
There is an exam with 30 multiple choice questions at the end of the course. The pass mark is 70%.
All you need to pass the exam will be covered on the day.
Do I have to take the exam?
No, but it is recommended and a great way to finish out the course also if you don't sit the exam you won't get the certificate.    
What will I gain?
Once you have passed your exam you will be awarded with Level One Award in Wine certificate and a WSET lapel pin.

The WSET Level 2 Award in Wine is the next step in the series of WSET courses to help you progress on your wine journey.
This course is aimed at students who already have a basic knowledge of wine either gained by completing the WSET Level 1 or through other avenues. 
For individuals seeking a core understanding of wines, this qualification explores the major grape varieties and important wine regions in which they are grown. You’ll learn about the styles of wines produced from these grapes as well as key classifications and labeling terminology. A basic overview of the key categories of spirits and liqueurs will also be provided. 

Do I have to hold the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines?

No – but if you are a beginner, you might want to take the Level 1 course first to gain confidence.

How long is the Level 2 Course?

Guided tutored time is 16 hours, split over 2 full days. The total recommended study hours excluding guided tutored time is 14 hours.

Is there an examination?

There is an exam with 50 multiple choice style questions. There is no tasting in the exam!  The pass mark is 55%.

Do I have to take the examination?

No, but it is recommended and a great way to finish out the course also if you don't sit the exam you won't get the certificate.

What will I gain?

Once you have passed your exam you will be awarded the WSET Level 2 Award in Wine Certificate, a WSET lapel pin, and you will be able to use the WSET Certified logo. This is a globally recognised qualification.

Do I need to study in advance?

This is a fairly advanced course so we recommend booking early so we can dispatch your course materials giving you time to study.

The WSET Level 3 Award in Wine is for many the  final step in the series of WSET courses to help you progress on your wine journey.
This course is aimed at students who already have an intermediate knowledge of wine gained by completing the WSET Level 2.
This course is aimed at serious wine enthusiasts or those who are considering a career in the wine industry whether as a sommelier or in the trade.

This course will develop to a high-level your ability to describe wine accurately, and account in detail for the style, quality and price of wines.

Our experienced educators will assist you to develop your analytic tasting abilities through a carefully selected series of wine samples.

Successful students will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin, and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

Do I have to hold the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines?

The Level 2 course gives you the knowledge and confidence to complete this course.

Those without the expected level of knowledge may find this course very challenging so we will contact those booking the course to check their understanding of the material.

How long is the Level 3 Course?

Guided tutored time is 30 hours, split over 5 full days. The total recommended study hours excluding guided tutored time is 56 hours.

Is there an examination?

There is an exam with 50 multiple choice style questions and four short written answers.

There is also a tasting paper of 2 blind wines. 

The pass mark is 55% in both sections of the exam.

Do I have to take the examination?

No, if you are only studying to further your knowledge you don't need to sit the exam, but it is recommended and a great way to finish out the course.

Also if you don't sit the exam you won't get the certificate.

What will I gain?

Once you have passed your exam you will be awarded the WSET Level 3 Award in Wine Certificate, a WSET lapel pin, and you will be able to use the WSET Certified logo.

This is a globally recognised qualification.
