WSET Awards in Spirits

The WSET online courses cover the same information as the classroom courses but have the added flexibility of not having to physically attend the classes, meaning you can learn about the world of wine from the comfort of your own home.

COURSES OFFERED:

A four-week online study programme that works around your existing commitments.
You’ll learn through WSET’s Online Classroom which allows you to study alongside your peers under the guidance of a dedicated educator. 

A minimum of three hours study per week is recommended to successfully complete the course and regular participation is essential.

Tasting is also an essential part of this course, and you will need to taste a minimum of six spirits (not provided as part of the cost, but you will be given guidance on the styles to taste).

The course fee includes a year of access to WSET's Online Classroom, a dedicated online tutor and your examination (spirits samples are not included). 

Please note that the exam can be completed in person at TheDrinkSchool or can now be done via Remote Invigilation (see PDF).

How long is the Level One course?
It is a 4 week course with a minimum of 3 hours study per week recommended
Is there an exam?
There is an exam with 30 multiple choice questions at the end of the course. The pass mark is 70%.
The exam must be completed at TheDrinkSchool.
Do I have to take the exam?
No, but it is recommended and a great way to finish out the course also if you don't sit the exam you won't get the certificate.    
What will I gain?
Once you have passed your exam you will be awarded with Level One Award in Spirits certificate and a WSET lapel pin.

You will need to source your own spirits samples and participate in various online lessons, activities, tests and forums.

A minimum of six hours of study per week is recommended to successfully complete the course. Regular participation is essential to your success.

Tasting is also an essential part of studying for this course, and you will need to taste at least eight spirits (not provided as part of the fee, but you will be given guidance on the styles you need to source).

The course fee includes a year of access to WSET's Online Classroom, your study pack, a dedicated online tutor and your examination (spirits samples and tasting glasses are not included).

Do I have to hold the WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits?

No – but if you are a beginner, you might want to take the Level 1 course first to gain confidence.

How long is the Level 2 Course?

It is a 5 week course with a minimum of six hours study recommended.

Is there an examination?

There is an exam with 50 multiple choice style questions. There is no tasting in the exam!  The pass mark is 55%.

The exam must be completed at TheDrinkSchool.

Do I have to take the examination?

No, but it is recommended and a great way to finish out the course also if you don't sit the exam you won't get the certificate.

What will I gain?

Once you have passed your exam you will be awarded the WSET Level 2 Award in Spirits Certificate, a WSET lapel pin, and you will be able to use the WSET Certified logo. This is a globally recognised qualification.
